Why start a blog? I think that a space where I can talk about things that are relevant to my life could be useful to me and hopefully to my readers. I feel excited about the prospect of feedback. I would hope that someone will read what I have to say and finds something in it that relates to their life. I like to write and the discipline of writing regularly appeals to me. I believe that most women around my age are experiencing similar challenges and could find it useful to read another take on those experiences.
I look forward to the fairly steep learning curve of creating and maintaining a blog and expect to make some silly mistakes along the way. As I progress with this blog project I want to talk about my varied interests and hobbies, some of which I am picking back up after having left them behind for one reason or another.
So here goes, I’ll start with a little info about me. I am a mother and grandmother, I’m married and we spend a great deal of our time in our travel trailer taking trips to see new things or visit family. We also have a rural home that we spend time at when not in the camper. I like almost any kind of travel and while it has primarily been in the camper recently, I am looking forward to planning some trips that involve planes or ships in the not too distant future. When I was young I loved to write poetry and am currently trying to get back writing it more often. I don’t aim to be profound but I enjoy the little challenges of setting my thoughts to rhyme or jotting down a quick haiku. I am still adjusting to some big changes we have made in the past couple of years and find this new phase of life both rewarding and challenging.
There it is in a nutshell. I’m starting a blog and hope to create a space for conversations about living through my sixties and beyond with grace, gratitude, family and fun.
